CSO Adopts Own $180 Assessment to Fight Gov.

As members of the California Staff Organization, we believe that we should put our core union values into action each and every day.

We do that in our working lives through our commitment to CTA and its more than 335,000 members, you -- our Partners in Advocacy for public education, human dignity, and workers’ rights.

We also act in accordance with our values by making financial commitments.

At our union’s own annual all-member meeting – held in San Jose in April – your CSO Partners voted to put our money where our mouths are. CSO union members voted to adopt a recommended $180 contribution over the next three years to be given to CTA for use in fighting Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s anti-union, anti-public education proposals.

We applaud our Partners, CTA members, who are making a similar financial commitment to the fight.

We’ve said it’s important for a union to know what it stands for – what its core values are. We’ve also said it’s not enough for a union just to publish and frame those core values and hang them on the wall. It’s vital to put them into action on a daily basis.
